The northeastern Congo Basin remains a relatively understudied region with respect to pottery techniques. Between 2022 and 2024, several field missions provided new data along the Congo/Lualaba River and in the Banalia area, in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Two previously undocumented descriptions of pottery-making observed in Bongbangu and Bobabe (Banalia territory) are first presented in detail. They highlight similar chaine opératoire, involving only the use of coiling throughout the shaping process. These descriptions are then compared with data collected in the Wanye Rukula and Ubundu areas, as well as with information available in literature or colonial archives. These comparisons display two distinct shaping technique areas in the northeastern Congo Basin.
